Roundup Herbicide So Creepy!

It's not nice to fool with Mother Nature!  When you do you pay dearly.  Are we a nation of idiots?  Will we not say something to our Corporate Rulers who are poisoning us?  You might not give a hoot now but you will when you're in hospice dying of cancer asking why? 

Well if you can possibly "avoid" eating it...It's practically in everything.  Monsanto's Roundup Ready Corn, Wheat, and Soy is in many of our foods and has been for decades.  Monsanto controls most of the Wheat, Corn and Soy grown in the U.S. and elsewhere and it's loaded, yes, we said loaded with "Roundup"!  Gee maybe that's why so many people are dying of CANCER!  Monsanto is spraying this shit everywhere.  Just say No!

Obama and his X-Monsanto Lawyer now Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack.  Conflicting interests there...hmmmm.

Herbicide properties:  Surfactant Polyethoxylated tallow amine(most common), Main active ingredient isopropylamine salt of Glyphosate Mode of action 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase(EPSPS) inhibitor.

Roundup is the brand name of a systemic, broad-spectrum herbicide produced by the U.S. company Monsanto, and contains the active ingredient glyphosate. Glyphosate is the most widely used herbicide in the USA, and Roundup has been the number one selling herbicide worldwide since at least 1980.  As of 2009, sales of Roundup herbicides represent about 10% of Monsanto's revenue due to competition from Chinese producers of other glyphosate-based herbicides; the overall Roundup line of products (which includes GM seeds) represents about half of Monsanto's yearly revenue.

Monsanto developed and patented the glyphosate molecule in the 1970s, and marketed Roundup from 1973. It retained exclusive rights in the US until its US patent expired in September, 2000, and maintained a predominant market share in countries where the patent expired earlier. Pesticides based on these poisonous chemicals, including Roundup have been banned in various countries due to their toxic effects on humans and wildlife.

The main active ingredient of Roundup is the isopropylamine salt of glyphosate. Another important ingredient of Roundup is the surfactant POEA (polyethoxylated tallow amine), which is known for its toxicity in wildlife.  It increases herbicide penetration in plant and animal cells.

Several weed species, known as superweeds, have developed Roundup resistance largely because of repeated exposure.  Monsanto also produces seeds which grow into plants genetically engineered to be tolerant to glyphosate, which are known as Roundup Ready crops. The genes contained in these seeds are patented. Such crops allow farmers to use glyphosate as a post-emergence herbicide against most broadleaf and cereal weeds. Soy was the first Roundup Ready crop, and was produced at Monsanto's Agracetus Campus located in Middleton, Wisconsin.

Round Up Ready Alfalfa - Another Curse!

Hello Everyone:

This is important to MRM.  However slim the chance might be that the decision maker PTB will stop Monsanto's Roundup Ready Alfalfa, we hope you will give it a try and let your voice be heard.  They, (Food Democracy Now Team) will send a letter for you. You don't have to write anything in the comments area unless you want to.  Just make a few clicks and your done.

Here's what we said to President Obama and Agriculture Secretary Vilsack in the comments section that went in addition to the Food Democracy letter:

"Your decision is paramount and irreversible! We are at a pivotal time in our country's agricultural history. Our family knows that "Roundup Ready Alfalfa" will have a negative rippling affect on our nations alfalfa supply and beyond; it won't stop there. We sincerely comprehend the curse of "Roundup" despite the heavy saturation of non-truths by the chemical industry. Monsanto should not be in the Agriculture business. Too many friends are dying of cancer and we cannot afford to go deeper into this poison hell we're creating for the sake of quantity and profits over quality and longevity. Please, please, please do not let this continue further due to the heavy pressure of Monsanto lobbyists. They DO NOT have a care for what the American people demand. The power and the might aren’t always on the side of goodness. The American people do not want this; only Monsanto does. If they win, we all loose."

Don't let Monsanto's GMOs Destroy Organic Dairy!
The USDA must immediately ban Monsanto's GMO alfalfa from the market and work to ensure that the organic industry is protected from genetic contamination and loss of profits and stand up for the basic rights for Americans to know what is in their food and how it's produced.

Take a stand for organics - Tell Secretary Vilsack and President Obama to reject Monsanto's GMO alfalfa.  Last week we sent an urgent appeal to members of the organic, sustainable and local food community regarding the pending approval of Monsanto's genetically modified (GMO) alfalfa - a decision is expected as early as this week.

Remarkably, more than 60,000 American citizens have signed this letter calling on Secretary Vilsack and President Obama to reject the approval of this Roundup Ready crop, which according to many farmers and scientists, is a completely unnecessary technology since alfalfa, as a perennial crop, does not face the same weed pressures as annual crops such as corn and soybeans.

Let Secretary Vilsack and President Obama know that this is a vital issue for you and your family; to have a guarantee that you have organic food that is not contaminated by GMOs, which are prohibited under the USDA organic standards.

As previously mentioned, Secretary Vilsack and the USDA have proposed two courses of action, either full deregulation of Monsanto's GMO alfalfa or a plan for the "coexistence" of GMOs alongside organic and non-GMO crops. Unfortunately, both outcomes will result in genetic contamination of organic crops and threatens to undermine the ability for organic dairy farmers and other livestock sectors to find adequate feed for their animals to maintain organic certification.

Already Monsanto and the biotech industry have bristled at the idea that the USDA would dare propose any limitations on their ability to plant its genetically modified seeds anywhere in farmer's fields across the country, despite the well known and scientific evidence that if allowed to be planted, GMO alfalfa will certainly contaminated organic and non-organic crops. Their arrogance is so great they have even called for Secretary Vilsack to be fired over his coexistence proposal.

At the same time, some in the organic industry, including Whole Foods and Stonyfield Farms are calling for the adoption of Secretary Vilsack's coexistence plan. While we appreciate their efforts to guarentee that organic and conventional farmers whose crops are contaminated receive fair and just economic compensation, we believe that all American farmers have the right to not have their fields contaminated and that understanding the real world of how nature works, compounded by human error, the current proposal for coexistence is unworkable.

Please join more than 60,000 Americans, family farmers and organic consumers across the country in telling them that the genetic contamination and potential loss of the organic dairy sector is not worth the risk. It's time to stand up to Monsanto and the biotech bullies and place a moratorium on GMO alfalfa in order to protect the organic dairy industry, organic consumers and the environment.

What If...You knew?

Southern California is still moving and shaking.  Below is a link to the USGS map of California which shows quakes in the last few minutes and hours, in RED.  What if you knew you had one week to live? Or that you would not survive a disaster coming your way? Would you change anything in your life? What would you do differently?  Earthquakes and California are like peanut-butter and jelly. We couldn't resist commenting on place-holder Republican talking head suit, Scott Brown, protesting the decision to approve the wind farm due to hurting tourism.  Just as in the style of a character out of a movie; like JAWS for instance.  Remember in JAWS, when the sheriff, (actor Roy Scheider), wanted to close the beach to prevent JAWS from eating the tourists and townspeople but the Mayor, (played by popular actor Murry Hamilton), insisted the beaches stay open so not to hurt tourism.

"Finally! Bravo...a few decades late but at least it's a start. Get over the anal appearance thing already! When the lights go out completely, which most definitely isn't that far off! ...there might be tourism again! Shake, Rattle & Roll ~ 8 Pointer Hits California

An 8. something earthquake hits California?  This isn't a prediction, just a reminder!  Got Rice?  Or whatever you can't live without?  We're just sayin...  It's doesn't hurt to have a plan and an emergency backpack. Perhaps a small portable stove, a tent, sleeping bags, water, some instant dehydrated food.  Most camp stores have all the containers and even Target has a camp section.  The month of APRIL is Earthquake Month.  The San Francisco earthquake was April 18th, 1906...must have been there in a past life, as for some reason that date sticks with us.

We've been told it's not a matter of "If" but "When" that we'll have a quake like this. We've been told we're long "Overdue" for "The Big One!" Given the recent large quakes in Haiti and Chile, one who lives in California or any other earthquake prone area must give pause, be reminded & be prepared. If you click on the, Post Title, above or the word "RED" below, it will take you directly to the USGS maps site. You can see all the quakes happening now, just in the last hour in fact, noted in RED.  Thinking of moving to California?  The USGS map might change your mind.

We're not Sizemo's or Geo's but one can't help but notice we're certainly in a shakey highly intense roley-poley atmosphere lately on this planet Earth.  If everyone would just calm down!  Hmmmm...  But can we get a grip on all the internal and external influences that shape our world?  Unlike the animals, our instincts are not honed to nature as well as they should be.  We'd better pay more attention and get ready and perhaps wean ourselves off all the Rx drugs.  You know, be "in training" so to speak.  We're too unconscious most of us--time to be in the Present moment and leave all the trivial stuff behind us as much as possible!  You know, he said, she said,...what happened yesterday is clogging up our brains so badly we can't see today.  Hate radio has us so seriously tangled up in our underwear, we're not functioning over stuff that won't affect us anyway.  So many of us have no variety in where we get our facts...(mostly entertainment-opinion, not facts), so much of it being useless information from suits only interested in selling ad time.

If you're in California, it wouldn't be a waste of time to check out the many available suggestions on what to do in an earthquake and how to survive.  Google this:  "Triangle of Life".  The Triangle of Life is a controversial theory advocated by Doug Copp about how to survive a major earthquake. It is intended to replace the traditional...personally we think he knows what he's talking about, if you consider his experience.

FARMS FOR THE FUTURE

We love this short, 48 minute film: "Permaculture - Farms for the Future". It's very uplifting to see--it makes a lot of sense!  If only this were implemented EVERYWHERE!  Then if we could just stop Factory Farming of animals, (another polluting, inhumane and destructive practice), we'd be moving in a forward direction instead of backwards as we are so quickly now.  Many of you are already doing this future farming on a smaller scale--it's not that difficult!  It should be shown at every AG School!  Check it out.  Well worth the watch!  Check it out you'll be glad you did!
